Junior and Youth Section About Exe Squad Exe Squad is the junior and youth race training section of Exe Sailing Club. Run by volunteers, we organise training sessions on Thursday evenings throughout the summer term and one weekend day a month through the autumn and winter. The goal is to get our juniors participating in club racing and then progress to open meetings, national and international events depending on their goals and aspirations. New for 2018 we also have a summer training week. Recent News Read our Spring Report here. Eric Twiname Championships 5-7 May 2018 Congratulations to Jakson Leach for proving himself to be Master Zephyr Chaser this weekend at the Eric Twiname Champs at Rutland! Sailing with Zone Squad mate Alfie Sheahan from Chew Valley, they clinched bronze medals, with an honourable second place in one of the four races held. The RYA had put on a fantastic event, with some great coaching for each of the regional teams of Topper, Oppie, Laser and Feva sailors, and windsurfers. The Fevas were lucky to have an excellent coach just for them. The reservoir looked like glass for much of the weekend, as we basked in sunshine, in the middle of the high pressure, but the race committee did a great job to put together four races in the end, despite big long holes and big shifts in the puffs of whisper-light breeze when they came. It really was the best training possible for extreme light wind sailing, and with the golden opportunity of good coaching during the event, it proved to be a truly great weekend valued by all. Jakson and Alfie should be proud of their achievement, as they hadn't sailed together before, and they will have worked really in the challenging conditions to achieve their result- well done you boys! Tera Start of Season Championships 21-22 April 2018 Well done to Josh John-Ringe who was third in the regatta fleet at the RS Tera Start of Season Championship.
