RYA Start Racing
AIM; To give you the skills and knowledge needed to get out on the racecourse at your local club.
Duration; 2 day weekend course.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE; Sailing skills to the standard of RYA Level 2 Basic Skills/RYA Youth Sailing Scheme Stage 4
YOU NEED TO BRING
- Sailing gear to include
- Wetsuit
- Buoyancy aid (minimum 50 Newtons) (the club has some that can be lent out)
- Footwear (Grippy shoes that can get wet. Wetsuit boots, shoes, or trainers are fine, Plimsoles, Crocs or Wellies not ok)
- Swim gear and/or rash vest for under the wetsuit
- Waterproof jacket or spray top
- Towel
- Sun protection including suncream/sun hat
- Warm hat for colder days
- Logbook (Provided on Start Sailing or can be purchased from the club)
- Water-bottle
- Packed lunch (extra snacks/drinks available when club bar is open)
Minimum age: 13yrs
Courses held at Exe Sailing Club with a minimum duration of 16 hours, with a maximum ratios of,
RYA Basic Skills and above, 1 instructor to 9 students in double handers, or 1 instructor to 6 students in single handers.
