Sailability Crew training, Hawk 20 - Session 1
This is one of three linked Sessions that Hawk crew are encouraged to attend. Session 1 will be run on four occasions during February and early March (the second and third Sessions being run in March and April respectively).
Session 1 is 'classroom-based' for a maximum of ten participants, and will take up to two hours.
The focus of this Session is on safety, and the purpose is to ensure crew are familiar with, and understand:
the Hawk's inventory of safety-related equipment including the contents of the forward bulkhead lockers and bow compartment
the weather, tidal and sea-state conditions suitable for outings
the sandbanks, shoals and eddies characteristic of our sailing area
the basics of using VHF radio in an emergency
The sessions will take place in the Preston Room and will be led by Nick Webber and Martyn Evans.
Session 1 will be run on the following occasions, and we ask that you book your attendance on one of these through the calendar booking
Wednesday 22nd February at 1900
Monday 27th February at 1400
Monday 6th March at 1400
Wednesday 8th March at 1900
