We have a range of boats available for you to try, adaptations to our vessels to help less able sailors and skilled helms and crew mean that you can get fully immersed in your session on the water.
ExeCite and No ExeCuse are great boats to get started on your sailing journey
Our two Hawk 20 Day Boats are well designed to offer a great sailing experience either in the River Exe or heading out to sea. Its stable and spacious design means that it can accommodate up to four passengers, a helm and crew with ease. You do not need to have had any experience to come aboard, our skilled helms and crew are delighted to show you the ropes and get you taking part by setting sails or even taking the helm.
Our catamaran gives access to our amazing river and coast line to anyone.
The twin engine catamaran, Tornado II, can carry up to eight passengers, a helm and crew on a River or Sea session. With its spacious deck and adaptations to take up to two wheelchairs, it offers a fantastic opportunity to set sail and see our amazing estuary and coastal waters. Our helms and crews are highly trained to make sure you have a great trip. You can get involved in a range of onboard activities including helping set sail and even take the helm of this 26 foot long motor vessel. There is even space for some activities including learning to tie knots, getting to know the way boats navigate or just tuck into your own packed lunch and soak up the atmosphere. If we have the right conditions we can go and see the Kittiwake colony or perhaps check out the seals as they bask in the sun in the estuary or if we are lucky, spend some time with a pod of dolphins. Don’t forget to bring your camera.
Our dinghy fleet
We have a small fleet of Quest and Zest dinghies for those who want to take to the water in a much smaller but quicker boat. You can learn to sail and with the help of our Training School here at Exe Sailing Club and with the help of our team of instructors, you can build on your experience and take Royal Yachting Association recognised qualifications, who knows you might even be instructing the new people who join our club or even entering the competitive world of dinghy racing. The sailing world is for you to explore and enjoy.
Our safety boats make sure we keep an extra eye on you during your voyage
Being safe on the water is something Exe Sailing Club takes very seriously, we all hope your trip on any of our vessels leaves you excited to come back and do more. We have five safety rigid inflatable boats (RIBs) all helmed by experienced people, their job is to help keep you safe whilst on your trips and help any of our vessels to return safely to shore with everyone smiling. They will stay with you for the whole of your trip, from the moment you board to, arriving safely ashore, why not give them a wave I’m sure they will love to wave back.
