Challenging Conditions for Knight Frank Champagne Challenge

Competitors in Exe Sailing Club's Knight Frank Champagne Challenge from Exmouth to Brixham faced highly variable conditions, ranging from flat calm to gusts of 18 knots. After a light-wind start, many boats were becalmed off Dawlish Warren before a strengthening south-westerly breeze allowed racing to resume. Tactical decisions proved crucial as shifting winds and changing sea conditions tested crews throughout the course. Jammin, skippered by Steve Best, won Fleet 1 and was first to finish in 3 hours 15 minutes. In Fleet 2, Xanté of Exe, helmed by Hazel Acland, secured victory after skilfully handling the challenging conditions. The day was rounded off with an evening celebration supper at Brixham Yacht Club.
