Exe Sailing Club Hosts Successful Millennium Series Event

Exe Sailing Club was delighted to welcome the RS2000 Millennium Series fleet for a fantastic weekend of competitive racing in a wide range of conditions.

Sailors faced challenging winds and large waves on Saturday, with gusts reaching up to 28 knots, before lighter and more tactical conditions arrived on Sunday. Despite the weather contrasts, the club's race management and volunteer teams delivered seven excellent races, earning praise from competitors throughout the fleet.

The weekend showcased close racing and strong performances across the field, with Si Horsfield and Darren Kirkham taking overall victory after an impressive series. Exe SC's Jay and Alice Whitehead secured second place, while Natalie Johnston and Katie Horsfield completed the podium in third.

The event was also a great opportunity to welcome new sailors to the class, with many benefiting from the supportive atmosphere and the willingness of experienced competitors to share advice both on and off the water.

The club would like to thank all volunteers, race officials, safety boat crews and catering teams whose hard work ensured the event ran smoothly. Their efforts, combined with excellent racing and a warm welcome ashore, helped make the weekend a great success.

Following such a successful event, Exe Sailing Club looks forward to welcoming the RS2000 fleet back to Exmouth for the National Championships next year.
