Summer Weeks

5 days of sailing for juniors where they will have fun on the water and learn/improve their sailing in the summer holidays, we run all four RYA Stages on each week, normally completing a stage a week, weather dependent.

AIMS

The complete beginners courses, aimed at getting juniors sailing with assistance.

The Stage 1 will enable them to have fun on the water. Learning the basics of sailing to allow them to crew efficiently and tack the boat across the wind.

The Stage 2 will then enable them to helm and sail the boat on all points of sail competently under supervision.

Improver courses aimed at getting juniors sailing in single-handers and double-handers competently on their own.

The Stage 3 gives them the skills in a single-hander needed to get out on their own with the close eye of an instructor on a safety boat.

The Stage 4 improves those skills and competence so they are able to sail efficiently and safely in their own time outside a course.

This completion of a stage depends on the ability and weather conditions during the Summer Week.

Advanced modules can also be completed in the week, these can include start racing, seamanship and spinnakers.
