Exe Sailing Club is proud to announce its official recognition as an RYA British Sailing Pathway Club. This prestigious status highlights the club’s commitment to developing young sailors and fostering a lifelong passion for the sport.
As an RYA Pathway Club, Exe Sailing Club provides junior sailors with the opportunity to hone their sailing and racing skills, ensuring they have the support and resources to progress within the sport. The initiative focuses on grassroots development, encouraging young sailors to stay engaged and continue their journey in sailing. Key parts are our Thursday evening race training, RYA training centre and race week in the summer holidays.
This achievement is the culmination of years of dedication from parents, volunteers, and club members, whose hard work has helped create a thriving junior program. Looking ahead, the club is excited to see further success from its junior sailors and hopes to inspire a new generation to embrace sailing as a lifelong passion.
The Pathway scheme aims to develop a network of high-quality clubs across the country that create fun racing in an accessible environment where young racers can develop great fundamental skills and feel part of a bigger team. Our club will focus on the following recognised junior classes (Topper, RS Tera, RS Feva and ILCA 4) which are available for youngsters to use to provide an easily-accessed, high-quality and most importantly fun race training programme that leads to more regular participation and racing. Making friends at a young age in the sport lasts a lifetime.
This will require more volunteers and we hope parents and others will get very involved both in logistics and maybe training up to help as instructors, boat drivers or possibly coaches. We have a Race Coach L2 course organised for August already.
