Race Team Information
All users of Exe SC RIBs must comply with the Exe SC Safety Boat Procedures .
Racing at Exe SC relies on volunteers to fulfill the functions of the Race Team:
Race Officer
The Race Officer (RO) is in charge of the racing scheduled for that day. It is his/her responsibility to decide whether racing goes ahead and to provide safe, good quality racing for the enjoyment of all. A guide to performing this task is in the Race Officer’s Briefing . If racing at sea due notice should be taken of established criteria for wind strength and direction in the Racing at Sea document.
Assistant Race Officer
The Assistant Race Officer (ARO) assists the RO with the race start, records the times that boats finish each lap and helps with other tasks as directed by the RO. The ARO should be dressed to enter the water if necessary, to provide assistance to sailors in difficulty.
Safety Boat Cox
The Safety Boat Cox drives the safety RIB, monitoring the sailors in the race, attending capsizes or other boats requiring assistance and moving the racing marks under instruction from the RO.
Safety Boat Crew
The Safety Boat Crew assists the cox and should be dressed to enter the water if necessary, to provide assistance to sailors in difficulty.
