Comet Trio

Comet TrioMk1 and Mk2 Trios at the Inland Championships Llangorse

The Comet Trio was designed by Phil Morrison and is a Single Manufacturer One Design dinghy. It was produced by Comet Dinghies (Sail Nos:300 to 495) between 1995 and 2008. It is now built solely by Peak Dinghies Ltd who have so far produced 14 Trios (Sail Nos:500 onwards). The Trio has 2 sail plans, Mk1 and Mk2 and both are sailed at Exe SC. The Mk2 has a larger square topped main and a fuller cut to the spinnaker. They race off different PY numbers, Mk1 – 1096, Mk2 1052.

The Trio is an ideal all round dinghy for use at Exe. It is a large, comfortable, relatively stable dinghy that is usually raced with a crew of 2 but can comfortably take 4 adults for a short cruise. It is a good sea boat and has a good turn of speed particularly in light winds. The suitability of the Trio for the local conditions can be seen by the fact that there are 31 Trios at Exe SC making it the largest fleet at the club.

Training

Trio training this year takes place on Sat 16 March 24. If owners would like a further training day please contact the fleet captain.
